The Platform agricultural research working group brings donors and partners together for informal operational policy discussions and to share strategic analysis, best practices and lessons learned. It aims to improve the management, coherence and effectiveness of agricultural research initiatives, and to improve harmonisation between research and development strategies.

Working group members collaboratively engage with and share outcomes from key policy processes. Where appropriate, they develop common positions on agricultural research in consultation with other Platform members.

//  GFAR Donor Support Group

The Platform works alongside the European Initiative for Agricultural Research for Development (EIARD) as representative of the Donor Support Group in the steering committee of the Global Forum for Agricultural Research.

In this capacity, it aims to bridge the gap between rural development and agricultural research communities, to inform Platform members about initiatives and current debates in GFAR, and to consolidate and communicate Platform members’ general positions to GFAR.

GFAR is a mechanism for coordination and partnership between stakeholders around the world committed to mobilising, reorienting, strengthening and bring coherence to systems generating and sharing new agricultural knowledge for development.
