Find the main outcomes of the CAADP DP task team's plenary meeting in Washington.
// Main outcomes
- In view of the need to ensure clarity and coordination to deliver a "perceived" growing mandate, the plenary discussed three options contained in the issues paper including (i) focusing on basics, (ii) expanding, and (iii) choosing middle ground or both. Though participants were cautious with the wording - especially referring to "expansion" - it clearly emerged from the floor that the way forward, according to DP TT perspectives, was a combination of both focussing on basics and expanding activities.
- To ensure that country teams have guidance on the full cycle of the CAADP process, it was agreed that (i) available guidance notes were not only to be updated - more importantly they ought to be translated into other languages, and (ii) a revamping of the CAADP website was of utmost importance and deserved to be dealt with as a matter of urgency.
- The role of the Platform secretariat in the preparation and dissemination of the first issue of the newly introduced CAADP DP TT e-Update was highly appreciated. The positive echo of recipients was mentioned.
- Preparation work for the Dar-es-Saalam CAADP PP business meeting is on track and the positioning of DPs on key issues as identified in the "Issues Paper" prepared ahead of the plenary, is gaining clarity. As such, for each issue, it appeared that DPs were coming closer towards establishing a common position for discussion with African partners in November 2011.
