//  Opportunities for targeted outreach

The Commissioners have indicated that, in their view, the real opportunities lie ahead for targeted outreach to key decision-makers, in collaboration with core partners, such as the member organisations of the Platform. There is a wealth of opportunities to adapt the Commission's findings and recommendations to a range of audiences with emphasis on integrating across climate change, agriculture, food security, trade and rural development policy processes. For example:

  • Linking the Commission‟s work to agendas of relevant stakeholder groups
  • Translating scientific findings and recommendations into messages targeted to specific policy processes
  • Tailoring messages to issues that are salient in different regions

//  Commission on Sustainable Agriculture and Climate Change

The Commission was convened by the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) with support from the Global Donor Platform in February 2011. The aim was to identify the policy changes and actions that are needed now to help the world achieve sustainable agriculture that contributes to food security and poverty reduction, and helps respond to climate change adaptation and mitigation goals.

Chaired by the UK's Chief Scientific Adviser, professor Sir John Beddington, the Commission brought together senior natural and social scientists working in agriculture, climate, food and nutrition, economics, and natural resources from Australia, Brazil, Bangladesh, China, Ethiopia, France, Kenya, India, Mexico, South Africa, the United Kingdom, the United States and Vietnam.
