Extract
We commissioned four individual country studies to assess the current state of harmonisation & alignment (H&A) in rural development.
Our members selected the countries of Nicaragua, Burkina Faso, Tanzania and Cambodia to assess current achievements, opportunities and constraints to H&A in rural development, and to identify possible approaches and actions for us to increase overall aid effectiveness in the rural sector in these countries as well as on a global scale. The studies are working papers for us and do not pretend to reflect the opinions of all stakeholders involved in rural development in the respective countries.
The first part of this study provides summaries of the four individual country studies and presents a collection of the key messages in regard to best practices and challenges of donor H&A in rural development.
The annex comprises the individual country reports assembled by a team of four international experts, based on literature review, interviews, telephone and email discussions with donors and Government officials.
