Extract

The Global Donor Platform for Rural Development (GDPRD) has selected four pilot countries (Cambodia, Tanzania, Burkina Faso and Nicaragua) where experiences in donor co-operation in rural development will be documented and existing efforts to improve harmonisation & alignment in rural development will be further supported by the Platform. During an initial assessment study, a team of international experts has looked at the issues at hand from 3 angles:

  1. the set-up of the donor community in the rural sector,
  2. the state-of-the-art in harmonisation & alignment in rural development and
  3. the issues and challenges in harmonisation & alignment in rural development.

The results of the study were presented and discussed end of March during Rural Week 2005 of the World Bank, Washington DC.
