Joint Donor Concept on Rural Development, abridged version, GDPRD 2006
Written/Published in 2006 by Catherine Hill

Extract

What drives rural development? What principles or values should guide donors and partners in rural development? What are the current approaches to rural development delivery in the context of harmonisation and alignment?
These are some of the questions that the Global Donor Platform for Rural Development (referred to hereafter as “the Platform”) members and associate members have discussed and debated over the past year, in order to identify areas of consensus in rural development. The outcomes of these discussions are included in the document “On Common Ground: A Joint Donor Rural Concept”, which synthesises the key points of consensus that the Platform has reached and built into its Joint Donor Rural Concept (JDRC). They are summarised hereafter in an abridged version.
