Extract
Aiming at an increase of the operating income of the peasants as a contribution to poverty reduction, and a sustainable use and management of the established irrigation infrastructure, the program supported the target group in maintaining and repairing the irrigation infrastructure, and trained the users for the organisation and administration of the irrigation systems. The schemes are managed responsible: the roles for the public and private actors are defined and separated, users are integrated in the planning process. This has led to a doubling to triplication of the yields and an accordant increase of the family income, and clearly reduced migration in the area. |
