Platform Policy Briefs and Hot Topics

By sharing knowledge on agriculture and rural development topics of decisive global importance, Platform members and partners in development can assure that development assistance and investments in agriculture and rural development (ARD) become more effective. Better understanding of these issues builds on the results of analyses carried out jointly with our members and partners and is to be based on a consensus with and a focus on partner country ownership.

Towards this objective, the Platform facilitates the formulation of Platform Policy Briefs on issues in ARD which our members consider to be of crucial global importance. These hot topics – first introduced through the Platform paper Hot Topics: Platform consensus on rural development issues of global significance – are constantly and regularly reviewed and currently comprise the following issues.

Platform Policy Briefs are designed to inform and guide partners in development in the effective delivery of assistance in agriculture and rural development (ARD).

The Policy Briefs — focusing on the content of ARD delivery — should be seen as the thematic extension of the Joint Donor Concept on Rural Development that is rather focusing on the processes of ARD delivery.
