National consultations on the central role of civil society organisations in agriculture and rural development have been successfully started by CIDA in December 2007.

CSO consultation in Bangladesh
These consultation processes are part of the efforts to give CSOs working in agriculture and rural development a hearing at the Third High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness, scheduled for September 2008 in Accra, Ghana (see as well Platform News).
During January, the remaining national consultations will be held – including consultations in Afghanistan which was added lately to the original list of 12 countries being part of this consultative effort – and recommendations will be fed into the International Forum on Civil Society & Aid Effectiveness in Ottawa, Canada, February 3-6, 2008.
