The Platform will be holding information seminars in a series of its Member Organisations' headquarters in Europe. Between May 13-16, Platform Secretariat Coordinator Sonja Bartelt and CAADP Task Leader Yihenew Zewdie will be visiting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ireland, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands and the Ministry for Development Cooperation of Germany.
The seminars are the continuation of the Platform´s Brown Bag Lunches, aiming to raise the profile of the Platform and present some of its current activities towards more harmonised and aligned approaches in agriculture and rural development programmes.
Special focus will be put on three current topics: (i) discussing the status and achievements of the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) to date and the role of the Platform; (ii) the Platform´s work around hot topics in agriculture and rural development: facilitating joint policy briefs on “Rural-urban linkages”, “Aid architecture” and “Rising food prices”; as well as (iii) presenting and discussing agricultural sector experiences in implementing the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness: agriculture at the High Level Forum III on Aid Effectiveness in Accra.
Andrew Kidd and Ben Davies (DFID) will be joining the seminar in France, providing insights on how the UK aligned their support to the CAADP Agenda. |
