Tackling rural poverty, together

At regional level, especially in Africa, it is generally accepted that there is a need for more coherence in strategies and policies in agriculture across regions and the continent, for greatly expanded regional trade in agricultural products and for much more investment in the sector (Maputo Declaration). Development partners also need to work better together in the interests of increased investment and aid effectiveness. The Platform has contributed to this effort in Africa through supporting, for example, the CAADP Partnership Platform which brings together donors involved in the agriculture sector in Africa, providing back-stopping to technical documents and bringing together development partners and African stakeholders in informal information-sharing meetings.
