Recent Progress of Platform Activities
In March the Platform held a video conference between the Burkinabe and Cambodian development partners to facilitate the exchange of lessons learned and to identify further collaborative activities between the Platform and the BF development partners in Burkina Faso. The BF development partners active in the agricultural sector recently took part in a  Joint Donors’ Competence Development Network (Train4Dev) training on SWAps in agriculture.
At the same time, the development partners have developed a comprehensive road map for the preparation process towards a planned agricultural SWAp.

Our members selected the countries of Nicaragua, Burkina Faso, Tanzania and Cambodia to assess current achievements, opportunities and constraints to H&A in rural development, and to identify possible
approaches and actions for us to increase overall aid effectiveness in the rural sector in these countries as well as on a global scale. The studies are working papers for us and do not pretend to reflect the
opinions of all stakeholders involved in rural development in the respective countries.

This paper is an extract of a mission report in French. The original report describes the course and the results of the mission, including documentation of the feedback presented on 18 February 2005 to several members of the Technical and Financial Partners. Here we translate essential information about the institutional context for alignment, the donor diversity, their efforts to harmonise, the success and some obstacles. Finally we concentrate on the themes and challenges of harmonisation and alignment hoping to enrich the international discussion and the H&A-efforts in Burkina Faso.
