Platform supports documentation and monitoring on sector coordination in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam
The Platform received an invitation by the International Support Group (ISG) — constituted by major international development partners and located at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) in Vietnam — to conduct a documentation and a process monitoring exercise on sector coordination and the introduction of SWAp/PBA initiatives in the agriculture and rural development sector in Vietnam.
Apart from preparing the basis for a comprehensive Rural Development Strategy in Vietnam, this Platform engagement — conducted jointly with ISG/MARD, the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida) and the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) — would as well contribute to disseminating lessons learned about the introduction of a SWAp/PBA in A&RD in an emerging economy in Southeast Asia.
Furthermore, this engagement will be an important step towards the “translation into practice” of the Hanoi Core Statement on Aid Efficiency, Harmonisation and Alignment, which itself translates the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness of March, 2005 into partnership commitments for Vietnam.
Expected outcomes of this exercise include:
- Synthesis report about the comprehensive and collaborative process documentation and monitoring of past and current efforts within MARD to pursue sector coordination and SWAp/PBAs; and
- Collaborative analysis of lessons learned and synthesis of policy and institutional implications of the reports findings.
