Raising awareness of Platform's activities

On February 13, the Platform held a Brown Bag Lunch at the headquarters of Swedish International Development Agency (Sida) in Stockholm.

Sida is one of the most active members of the Platform represented by Daniel Asplund as its Focal Point. The objective of the BBL was to raise awareness of Platform activities, illustrate the interlinkages between the various Platform activities and strengthen the role of the Platform's Focal Pont as advocate for aid effectiveness in rural development.

The event was structured as a discussion round led by Sonja Bartelt, the acting Platform Secretariat Coordinator. Throughout the Questions and Answer Round, the representatives from Sida's Department of Natural Resources and the Environment — including the Head of the RD Division — learned about the network’s main structural bodies, its services and added value.

The initiative found interest and support and was welcomed as a good example of aid effectiveness in the area of rural development within their own organisation. Especially interesting were the views of Inge Gerremo, who participated in first talks about the Platform's establishment with then World Bank's Kevin Cleaver in 2003.
