E-consultation on zero draft // Voluntary Guidelines on Responsible Governance of Land Tenure

Update! The e-consultation takes place 18 April–16 May and gathers comments on the zero draft. It allows interested parties to contribute to the drafting of the voluntary guidelines.

Comments will be considered in the first draft, which will be submitted to the open-ended working group of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) for review. The work will peak in the CFS-led plenary negotiations in July. Final text of the voluntary guidelines will be submitted for the consideration of the 37th session of the CFS in October 2011.

// Background

The e-consultation is organised by FAO. The voluntary guidelines are being prepared through an inclusive process. Fifteen regional and thematic multi-stakeholder consultation meeting were organized between September 2009 and November 2010 to assess the priorities of the voluntary guidelines and to review specific features of governance of tenure in each region. Based on these consultation meetings, a zero draft of the Voluntary Guidelines has been prepared.

Comments from this e-consultation will be considered in the first draft of the Voluntary Guidelines which will be submitted in June to the open-ended working group of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) for review. The work will peak in the CFS led plenary negotiations in July. Final text of the Voluntary Guidelines will be submitted for the consideration of the 37th session of the CFS in October 2011.

// How to contribute

The secretariat of the Voluntary Guidelines on Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land and other Natural Resources welcomes all interested parties - who were not able to attend the regional consultations - to participate in the e-consultation on the zero draft between 18 April and 16 May.

The e-consultation website will be available in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish. Comments may be submitted in any of those languages.
