//  National Convergence Initiative

The National Convergence Initiative gets political support under President Aquino. Moving towards new ways of doing business, Philippines agriculture gains public trust through a common platform for sustainable rural development. The three known convergence agencies in the country, the Agrarian Reform, Agriculture and Environment are looking at the common line of sight from ridge to reef, people depart from living within the $2-a day poverty measure.

Apart from the envisioned goals of productivity, increased income and creation of employment, a sound institutional structure by 2014 becomes a parallel desired outcome for the convergence agencies.

Product development, promotion and marketing of best and finest products of farmers, fisherfolks, and upland dwellers, refining trade relations and resource sharing promote collaborative initiatives facilitating rural communities able to respond to markets and at the same time scale up producing commodities that sustain food security.
