// Second Global Conference on Agricultural Research for Development
The purpose of the Conference is to move from WHY transformation of AR4D, to HOW to implement the GCARD RoadMap in practice and WHAT difference does it make. The objective of the GCARD II is to take stock of progress and lessons from experiences in developing and strengthening collaborative actions to transform innovation processes towards achieving large scale development impacts, in particular on the livelihoods of resource poor smallholder farmers.
// Foresight and partnership for innovation and impact on smallholder livelihoods
Key elements:
- To bring improved foresight to the prioritization of research issues and to better understand the advantages and disadvantages of different possible approaches to addressing these issues. This recognizing that more effective and inclusive targeting of innovation and knowledge use is a key entry point in transforming AR4D systems.
- To highlight actions through new collaboration and partnerships, following the GCARD RoadMap and track progress in addressing the 6 areas of transformative action required for reorientation AR4D systems around the world
- To provide specific opportunity for reflection and consideration of the role and emerging partnerships through CGIAR CRPs and other international, regional and national collaborations to maximize their development value and impact
- To reflect the desire of GCARD 2010 participants for more direct interaction, networking and opportunity to discuss collaboration and partnerships in AR4D and take forward key issues together
- To achieve tangible commitments to subsequent actions by stakeholders and actors in AR4D regionally and globally.
Expected outcomes:
- Improving foresight by collective action
- Tracking of progress and learning in regard to the GCARD RoadMap implementation elements of partnership and capacity development
- Sharpen ideas on ways forward to achieve the desired transformations of AR4D systems at all levels, leading into agendas for action.
