BMZ takes over presidency of the CAADP-Development Partners Task Team (DPTT)

Bonn | Germany | 29 Feb 2016
The presidency of the CAADP DPTT, from April 2013 to December 2015 assumed by the European Commission, has been taken over by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Co-operation and Development as of January 1st, 2016.

The DPTT is part of the CAADP partnership structure which comprises the CAADP Partnership Platform, the CAADP Business Meeting, the DPTT and different work streams. At its conception, DPTT was designed to provide a platform for development partners to coordinate and align their support, share information and adopt common principles and practices in CAADP implementation at continental, regional and country levels. A total of 22 institutions are currently active participants in the task team.

The new Chairmanship was officially launched at a kick-off meeting in Bonn on February 12th, 2016. Participants included African institutions such as NEPAD Agency, donor organisations (EU Commission, The Netherlands, The World Bank, USAID, Canada, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation) as well as development partners (FAO, World Food Programm, Global Donor Platform on Rural Development, IFPRI, ECDPM). The meeting served to mutually exchange new information, to discuss up-to-date challenges with the African partners, particularly under the new „Malabo Declaration on Accelerated Agricultural Growth And Transformation for Shared Prosperity And Improved Livelihoods“ (2014), and eventually to define priorities for the German presidency. The discussions at the meeting focused on the lessons learnt from the EU presidency, the „Review of the CAADP Partnership Architecture“ and resulting recommendations, the planned Malabo Financing Facility, the „CAADP Country Systems Study“ and latest information on the Donor (Support) Framework and NPCA CAADP Implementation Guidelines.
