The Annual General Assembly (AGA) of the Platform is a yearly event that provides a forum for debate and/or consensus by Platform members, partners and invited guests on emerging topics in agriculture and rural development (ARD). AGA participants benefit from the core services of the Donor Platform: knowledge sharing, advocacy and networking on key development issues and strategic directions that affect lives in rural space.

The 2025 Annual General Assembly will focus on "Investing in the Future of Agrifood Systems: New directions for development finance". The sessions will explore how agrifood systems can be financed into the future and what this means for donors in a rapidly changing development landscape. A fresh rethink is needed to ensure financing matches the scale of the challenges ahead.
26 November 2024
This year's Annual General Assembly will take place on 26-27 November 2024, under the theme "Financing Food Systems Transformation and Rural Revitalization: Opportunities and Challenges". We will examine how the international community is rethinking the use of limited Official Development Assistance (ODA) donor resources in food and nutrition. This includes exploring innovative financing, better coordination of donor approaches, and stronger harmonization of stakeholder engagement.

The 2023 Annual General Assembly took place on 26-27 October 2023, and coincided with the Donor Platform’s 20th anniversary, a milestone reflected in the theme “20 Years of rural development and aid effectiveness: Where are we now and where are we going?”.

From 19-21 June, the 2019 Annual General Assembly (AGA) brought together more than 40 participants, Platform members and partners, in Zurich/Maennedorf, Switzerland. After many years of thematically focused AGAs, this year’s edition was conceptualised as an inward-focused Members‘ retreat, intended to inspire members to reflect on and leverage their unique strengths in the rural development space, in particular in light of a thoroughly changing environment.
