There has never been a greater need for coordinated donor investments and collaboration that align with partner countries' needs and priorities. This flagship report is the culmination of a year-long workstream on donor coordination conducted by the GDPRD and includes key messages and recommendations for donors to consider in the way forward.
From a virtual roundtable “Reshaping Food Systems Financing in a Crisis and Post-Crisis Environment: Driving Donors’ Commitments” on 29 September, 2022. Co-organized by the GDPRD with IFAD and the European Commission, in collaboration with the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub.
In April 2022, the Global Donor Platform for Rural Development released a white paper to provide global donors with options to transform our food systems, to make them more resilient and sustainable. Global donors have a critical leveraging role in catalysing food systems change and this paper attempts to provide clear directions, under seven action areas to focus their attention and efforts.
A virtual round table that explored the actions donors can take to assist countries in their national pathways for food systems transformation. The event followed Chatham House rules and provided an open discussion on the opportunities and challenges for donors in helping to catalyse food systems change.
The GDPRD launched a new Declaration of Intent on Food Systems Transformation, to signal the intention of the Platform and its members to work proactively and in a coordinated way to help take forward the outcomes of the UN Food Systems Summit.
Mapping of the food systems-related funding and activities supported by donors. Food system framing as more than semantics, signally the need for a holistic view of food as central to all development issues.
Revised areas of focus for the Platform: strategic influencing, knowledge-sharing, networking and convening.
