Addressing high food price inflation for food security and nutrition

Despite signs of recovery in recent years, the world remains off track to meet the 2030 targets for ending hunger and malnutrition. The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2025 reveals how persistent food price inflation has slowed progress, particularly for low-income and vulnerable communities.

The report explores the deepening impact of inflation on access to healthy diets, food insecurity, and child malnutrition, and highlights the urgent need for coordinated policy action. With insights into national responses and forward-looking strategies, the report underscores the importance of resilient agrifood systems, sound fiscal and monetary policies, and better data to restore momentum toward a world free of hunger.

Every year, the SOFI report presents the headline number of undernourished people around the world, while advocating for strategies against hunger and malnutrition. Following publication of the global report, a wealth of statistics is disaggregated into regional reports. SOFI is jointly produced by FAO, IFAD, UNICEF, WFP and WHO.
