Global Alliance for the Future of Food publishes a report, highlighting the importance of climate financing for food systems transformation.
Food system is a critical criterion in climate, where it nearly emits one-third of greenhouse gas emissions, and get effected by climate change too. It’s a delicate sphere where far more bolder actions for climate finance are required, yet the progress toward food systems transformation is trailing by far. In fact, it actually decreased in proportion from 3% to 2.5% of all public climate finance going to food systems.
The report emphasizes the urgent need for sustainable food system transformation, and the lack of finance. It provides an overview on how climate financing could mitigate and transform food system, strengthening small scale farmers, fishers, Indigenous People, and those who are most vulnerable to climate change.
