Food security and nutrition (FSN) information systems are essential for evidence-informed policymaking and anticipatory action. Yet, funding contractions, institutional pressures and governance constraints are increasingly threatening their ability to deliver timely and reliable information.
This CFS 54 side event will explore these challenges through emerging global evidence and country perspectives from Somalia and Mozambique, highlighting critical information functions, existing gaps and priority reforms and investments.
Building on these insights, the session will examine what the changing financial, institutional and technological environment means for implementing the 2022 CFS Policy Recommendations on Strengthening Collection and Use of Food Security and Nutrition Data, with a focus on financing, institutional capacity and governance.
The event will conclude with the launch of the Intentional Data Community for Nutrition and Food Security (IDC), a mechanism for connecting existing initiatives and fostering collective action around country-defined priorities.
